I'm just starting an project that will probably over a year. This will be diorama of the USS Arizona being moored (tied up) at Pearl Harbor on December 5th, 1941. I will be using the Trumpeter 200 scale Arizona with turned brass gun barrels, several super sets of PE, wood decks, and resin detail parts. I managed to secure a 200 scale set of Pearl Harbor mooring quays that are going work out well I think. Also found two sets of figures in 200 scale so that I can populate the scene. This will be my first diorama so I will be learning how to do several things I've never done before such as doing water, and water effects. I'll try to post a photo of the work in progress if I can ever figure out how to do that!

Sorry I missed the last meeting. I expect to be at the next one however. For some time I experimented with plastic sheets and acrylic filler and paints to be able to do the water effects for the diorama later. Next, although the kit hull of the Arizona is divided at the water line, there is no provision for the black boot stripe at the water line. IF I were to just paint that on the bottom of the upper hull it would make sit way too low. SO I got some one eight inch thick plastic sheets and using the upper hull as a template cut out a hull form in the plastic sheeting. However, this is taking a lot of time to make fit right. Lots of sanding, etc. Once I get that done, I will set the whole base aside and start work on the model itself. I hope to have some pictures of some of this on disk at the next meeting that can be published on the website. Thanks!
How is this build progressing Bruce? Missed you at the last meeting.
Looking forward to it Bruce!
Thanks for those kind words. There is so much I don't know how to do. So for me it's fun to learn new things.
Glad to see you made it to the forum. Your expertise in the world of ships is appreciated and I know I will be looking forward to this build and future builds you do. As most club menbers know I am a bit slow on the completion of undersea boats. Maybe I can learn from your ship building abilities.
