Well, after seeing Kurt and Paul's beautiful desert-scheme 129's, this old Lindbergh kit line-jumped ahead of the Fiesler 167 for the next build!
Yes - Lindbergh! Only about 20 parts. I had intended to sand and rescribe, but when I looked more closely, it does have nice raised rivet and panel details (like some of the old Airfix kits), so I decided to try an "almost" OOB build. I won't put anything into the cockpit, but I do need to add the following: 1. I deepened the gun troughs and added drilled styrene gun barrels, 2. I'll need to add the exterior gunsight on the nose, and the rear-view mirror to the canopy, and 3. there is absolutely NO engine detail - just a flat blank. I'm gonna have to get creative here because I don't want to buy resin engines.
So while the primer was drying on the two Phantoms, I started:

Here's a pic of what I'm going for as a paint scheme. Eastern front with distemper overpaint (though I don't think I'll attempt the spinner spirals - we'll see!):

Ok - wrapped this build up this weekend also! Here are a few pics of the final:
I scratch built the gunsight - used a piece from a landing gear, and added some styrene bits and the acetate clear piece.
The scratch built Gnome-Rhone engine in situ.
